December 18th, 2018

Today, I managed to actually get some pictures after most of my steps getting ready this afternoon.

Tried to clean up my brows a bit because they still look awful in close up pictures but, let’s be honest, these babies need professional help.

I’m also in middle of growing out the undercut I had so when I pull my hair back out of my face, you get the delightful horror you will see below in the action shots.

Keep reading below for how I created this look as well as the finished product.

Creating the look:

Using the BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer, I applied it to a blemish on my forehead as well as directly under my eye (starting in the corner by my tear duct and dragging the applicator down in three arches to cover my under eye area and part of my upper cheek). Using a damp BeautyBlender, I bounced the shit out of my face until everything was smooth and concealed.

Using my ring finger, I applied a small amount of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion over all my eye area (from lid to brow). I then followed up with the BareMinerals All Over Shadow Brush, I dipped into the 500 thread count and applied this all color all over the same area that I just applied the eye primer. This neutral pale shade acts as a great base for my skin tone to assist me with blending the colors I apply down the road.

Taking the Face Secrets Eye Shadow Blender brush and dipping into Meteor Shower, I applied this to my crease – allowing the fluffy brush to feather the color up over the top of my eye socket. It took about three dips to slowly build the color up to what is shown (as it is easier to add color than take it away). 20181218_1220526411424580169636520.jpg

Switching to Morphe M321, I used Meteor Shower again but concentrated it only in the deepest part of my crease to add some additional depth. 20181218_122452792963081926979096.jpg

Since I tend to be a bit messy when applying my crease color, I have to cut my lids back in or else it can be harder to blend the eye lid colors. In order to help ‘cut the crease’ and have a sharper transition line, I used the Urban Decay Flat Eye Shadow Brush and MAC Painterly Paint Pot to apply a base all over my eye lids.

Then, coming back with Morphe 321 and grabbing some of the color Galaxy, I applied this to the eye lid starting with the outer corner and slowly dragging the color until it was about 3/4 across my lid towards my inner eye.

Sticking with the Morphe M321, I switched colors to Comet and applied this to my eye lid – starting with the inner eye and slowly blending it towards the outer eye. Since it overpowered Galaxy a bit, I worked back and forth between the two until they were almost 50/50 on my eye lid with the middle being a blend versus a sharp transition line.

Finally, I switched to the Morphe M507 and picked up a hair of Meteor Shower a bit to blend it down into the far outer eye to ease the transition between it and Galaxy (as I mostly wanted the Comet section to pop out more). 20181218_1231092302286978513786044.jpg

Using Morphe M321 (if you have not noticed a trend yet, it is currently one of my favorites for lid color), I packed the brush with Spotlight and applied it to the dip above my inner eye lid and pulled up into Meteor Shower to create a corner eye highlight. Coming back to my Morphe M507, I went back to 500 thread count and feathered/soften the top of the crease color as it seemed a bit harsh once the rest of the colors were applied.

Picking up the Sephora Pro Angled Liner Brush, I moved to my under eye and carefully smoked out the entire lash line on my lower lid using Comet and Galaxy – doing much the same blend back and forth that I did for the eye lid itself.

Then, using Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Shade LSD (which I totally forgot to include in the pictures above), I carefully applied color all along my water line (top and bottom. While it does not show in these pictures as well (can see it better in the close up images at the end), this color is a rich sapphire blue. 20181218_1243042727991866024984148.jpg

Tarte Opening Act and Lights, Camera Lashes mascara finished my eye look once applied to my top row of lashes. I opted not to apply towards my bottom lashes this time.

To finish off my look, I used BrowArt23 Brow Definer and the angled brow brush to carefully fill in my brows. Ice Cold was applied to the tops of my cheeks (lightly as this stuff can GLOW if you want it to) using the F.A.R.A.H. Large Angled Contour Brush. Lips was an application of Restraints with Meteor Shower applied on top while the liquid lip was wet using Luxie 239 Precision Shader to give the blue/purple hue to the gray color.

Now before y’all say – hey, McKenzie – you listed the Flawless Face brush but never used it above….Actually, I used that brush a lot! One of my complaints about this palette is that it does seem to have more fall out than I am use to with a BareMinerals palette so I was using my Flawless Face brush and the translucent setting powder to carefully sweep away any fall out that landed on my cheeks. Had I used a towel or, even worse, my fingers, I would have had some dark blue/purple streaks all over my concealer.

Cheers!
